Appearently, the first rock oil mine was built in Bobrka, Poland in 1853 and that may very well have been the start of the petroleum industry.  Remarkably this occured as the planet Pluto had just entered the sign of Taurus while the planet Uranus was itself at 5 degrees of Taurus thus conjuncting (adjoining forces) with the newly entered Pluto.  As this conjunction occurs approximately, on average every 127 years, the previous conjunction of these two dynamic planets occured in 1712 in the sign of Virgo, the time of which may be considered to be roughly the beginning of the Age of Enlightenment.   ...continued here...
